Sorry this post is a little late…by a day. But better late than never, right?
Ever need a do-over? You know, when you’ve just failed utterly and want a chance to do it all over again? Or ever have a whole day that needed a do-over when you just can’t seem to get anything right? Maybe it’s more than a day you’d like to re-live differently, maybe it’s a season.
Well, there’s good news and bad news with that. Bad news: we can’t turn back the clock and try again. Bummer. Good news in the words of Anne Shirley: “tomorrow is always fresh with no mistakes in it.”
The Bible puts it this way:
“This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. The LORD’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:21-23
See, in a way we do have a do-over in that everyday we get to start over! We can take what we learn from our mistakes and failures of yesterday and maybe do a little better today. And fail or succeed in the struggle, we can rest knowing that the Lord NEVER FAILS! He still has compassion on us even when we don’t have compassion on others. He is still faithful, even when we are not. His love is NOT portioned out according to our behavior. (Thank goodness!). He loves us just because that’s who He is.
So rest in these truths today, enjoy your fresh new day today, and soak in His lovingkindnesses! And then do it again tomorrow!
