Freezer cooking…dosen’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. A few extra steps, a few times a week, can help you to fill up your freezer with homemade convenience in no time!
Here are some ideas for fitting freezer “cooking” into your already busy life!
- If you have a few extra minutes when baking cookies, muffins, breads…make a double (or triple) batch. All of these items freeze great, and make a super easy homemade snack or meal!
- Use leftovers to freeze…for example, every weekend my husband likes to make big meals…pancakes, waffles, french toast…he always makes too much, and I freeze the leftovers. A perfect breakfast later!
- When you make dinner, make two. I have found this works great with things like lasagna, enchiladas, soups, and lots of casserole dishes. I keep a stock of aluminum pans in my pantry, and put the extra meal in those. These also work great for bringing meals to friends!
- When you buy chicken, immediately sort it into the amount you will need for a meal, put it in a freezer safe ziplock and add the ingredients of your favorite marinade. Throw it in the freezer and you have an easy dinner, ready to go!
