Ever hear that saying: the days drag on and the years fly by? Seems very true especially with little ones at home! The days can get long, and yet I look back and wonder where our school year went!
There’s a lot of demands when caring for children, and when they’re small they need help with almost everything! And that gets a little tiring.
So every now and then I have to remind myself why I’m doing this. It’s not just about getting through the day, it’s training my kids for a lifetime. And training takes time. Training is not easy. Training is for the long haul!
When I feel the frustration level rising and my tolerance fading fast I try to remember these verses: (“TRY” being the key word there!)
“Therefore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
2 Corinthians 4: 16-18
The temporary (gettin’ through the day) verses the eternal (the long haul). That’s what I need to remember!
Whatever your “light and momentary troubles” are, and let’s be honest we ALL have them, are temporary. (Thank the Lord!) I hope by staying fixed on the eternal and remembering that you’re not alone will encourage your heart today and ease the burden!
